چکیده
Abstract. Knowledge about the timing, amplitude and spatial gradients of Holocene environmental variability in circum-Baltic region is key to understanding its responses ongoing climate change. Based on a multi-dating proxy approach, we reconstruct changes productivity using total organic carbon (TOC) contents sediments Lake Kälksjön (KKJ) from west–central Sweden spanning last 9612 (+255/-114) years. An exception period 1878 CE until today, which sedimentation was dominated by anthropogenic lake level lowering land use. In-lake higher during periods warmer winters with shortened ice cover prolonged growing seasons. A multi-millennial increase throughout ∼ 9600 years associated progressively northwestern Europe, likely triggered coinciding Northern Hemisphere winter insolation. Decadal centennial KKJ tend correspond more positive North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) polarity, as reconstructed for 8000 In consequence, assume our decadal record complete provide qualitative NAO polarity. shift towards at 5450 cal BP hypothesized reflect reinforcement NAO-like atmospheric circulation variability, possibly driven vigorous deep-water formation.

Biogeochemical evidence for hydrologic changes during the Holocene in a lake sediment record from
Holocene paleoclimate records from Greenland help us understand the response of the Greenland Ice Sheet and regional oceanic and atmospheric circulation systems to natural climate variability in order to place recent changes in a longer-term perspective. Here biogeochemical analysis of a lake sediment core from southeast Greenland is used to define changes in moisture balance and runoff during ...

متن کاملMid‐2000s North Atlantic shift: Heat budget and circulation changes
Prior to the 2000s, the North Atlantic was the basin showing the greatest warming. However, since the mid-2000s during the so-called global warming hiatus, large amounts of heat were transferred in this basin from upper to deeper levels while the dominance in terms of atmospheric heat capture moved into the Indo-Pacific. Here we show that a large transformation of modal waters in the eastern No...

We present a 6,000-yr record of changing water balance in the Pacific Northwest inferred from measurements of carbonate δ(18)O and grayscale on a sediment core collected from Castor Lake, Washington. This subdecadally resolved drought record tracks the 1,500-yr tree-ring-based Palmer Drought Severity Index reconstructions of Cook et al. متن کاملNorth Atlantic circulation and variability, reviewed for the CNLS conference
The circulation and water mass structure of the North Atlantic are reviewed, with emphasis on the large-scale overturning cell which produces North Atlantic Deep Water (NADW). Properties and transports for its major components (Nordic Seas Overflow Water, Labrador Sea Water, Mediterranean Water, Antarctic Intermediate Water and Antarctic Bottom Water) are reviewed. The transport estimates and p...
